Every year, I tell myself that I'm going to be super organized, buy all my gifts ahead of time, and won't be stressed at all. But let's be real...every year, I procrastinate until I realize it's the day before Christmas/Hannukah and I still haven't gotten any gifts. Ooops. Well there isn't anymore time left to procrastinate, but if you're like me and have put your holiday shopping off until now, here are some last-minute gift ideas that are easy, (mostly) reasonably priced, and perfect for everyone in your life.Read More
The holidays are upon us, and we all know what that means...consuming endless amounts of calories before naming "detox" amongst our 2018 resolutions. Until then, we still have to eat, and since none of us can afford to use the little money left in our bank accounts after holiday shopping (and the few extra calories we've allotted ourselves for the month) towards one of LA's grandest meals, how about checking out some nice but low-key spots for a good lunch or dinner? Specifically, the 3 restaurants below all over unique experiences and nice-casual environments for their prospective neighborhoods, making them great spots for popping in to enjoy a relaxed meal.Read More
One of the unfortunate consequences of LA's yo-yo weather is the crazy reaction it induces from your skin. It goes from oily and clogged to dry and peeling in 24 hours, and back again. Trying to control the chaos has been all but maddening, and often feels like a science experiment gone wrong. But since I treat my face like a skincare test lab, I have made some valuable discoveries. The first of which is that treating my skin gently is key right now, hence my switch to creamier cleansers (like the Ocean Cleanser from Osea), richer balms and oils (May Lindstrom's Blue Cocoon has been a godsend), and an SPF to always protect my sun-sensitive complexion (Glossier's new Invisible Shield is an instant fave). Check out the rest of my skincare favorites below!Read More
As much as I adore weekend brunch, I rarely drag myself out of bed in time to actually do it. Usually I grab an iced latte from Alfred's and call it a day. But on the occasion when I do get to indulge in this wonderful weekend ritual, I prefer to treat myself to something fun and decadent. And Blacksmith's in Downtown LA is no exception. The beautiful restaurant is located on a small side street off of Main (near perennial favorite Kazunori), and immediately surprises with its lovely outdoor patio and airy/glitzy space. Exposed brick, chandeliers, and cozy blue tufted booths give this spot a luxe industrial feel that lends itself well to the elevated American cuisine. While they serve dinner, happy hour, and even boast late night bites, daylight seems like a good way to fully appreciate the whole experience.Read More
