When scouring all of those upbeat, artfully photographed beauty blogs, we can't help but get swept up in the glamour of all of the colorful make-up, high-end skincare, and fancy packaging. But sometimes, you need those beauty products that get down to the nitty gritty and focus on substance above style. Here are some of our favorite unglamorous beauty bits that do all of the necessary legwork.
1. Eucerin Aquaphor: This multi-use ointment is kind of like a better vaseline. The packaging is utilitarian and the price is amazingly cheap, but you can slather it on just about everything for those necessary boosts of moisture. After trying out a plethora of overnight lip balms, we still resort to this handy staple whenever our lips are seriously chapped.
2. Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay: Forgo those fancy, $70 face masks for this all-purpose and cost-effective purifying clay power. Mix it with water for an excellent spot treatment, or throw it in the bath for a relaxing experience. It may not smell like roses, but it gets the job done.
3. The Turbie Twist: This hair wrap towel may not be your most fashionable accessory, but we seriously LOVE it. Anytime we forget this magically lightweight towel on occasional trips and sleepovers, we forget what to do with our hair once we emerge from the shower. We love twisting our hair atop our heads, securing it with an elastic, and getting into our skincare routines (without having those annoying wet strands dripping in our faces). Never again will your head sag from the weight of a full towel!
4. Bioderma + Cotton Rounds: While everyone goes crazy for cleansing oils and luxurious balms, we're still working on our trusty bottles of bioderma. Soak a few cotton rounds with this magical water and easily wipe off a full face of make-up. It's far less expensive than those fancier make-up removing products, gentle for sensitive types, and works well for breakout-prone skin. It may be minimalistic, but this stuff WORKS.
