Once upon a time, Los Angeles was a major garment manufacturing hub. The fashion district in Downtown used to be factory-driven, producing garments for a plethora of local and national brands. It was really an exciting time in this city's history. However, with the movement of production abroad, LA lost much of its manufacturing segment.
But years later, amidst growing interest in moving manufacturing back to the States once again, LA is alive with wholesale showrooms, local brands, and fast fashion conglomerates. In this series, we want to revive the image of LA as a fashion hub, discovering all of the cool, local brands that call this city "home."
Our first brand is a new destination for buying unisex-style underwear: MeUndies. Self described as "cool, quality threads," MeUndies makes ridiculously comfortable underwear that, despite its androgynous appeal, exudes a young, sexy vibe. Their basic styles come in a variety of colors and patterns, keeping their look fresh and different.
After trying a few pairs ourselves, we can attest to the soft modal fabrics and lack of awkward, fat-squeezing panty lines. Offering up sexy briefs and comfortable thongs for women, with boxer briefs, briefs, and trunks for men, the simple selection emphasizes quality and wearability over variety: a trade we happily embrace. With an easy-to-use website, MeUndies.com features a new, creative photoshoot every month that showcases their new styles in all their local, sexy glory. Needless to say, we're giving up on those one-size-fits-all, lace-everything panties for these new comfortable, stylish, and figure-flattering alternatives.
