Sunday Brunch has become quite the Los Angeles ritual. Knowing the best brunch spots is now just as much a factor of "coolness" as frequenting the hottest new bars. Sometimes, though, I'm simply not in the mood to wake up at a decent hour, dress up, drive out of my way, and wait for food. Brunch should be lazy. It should be casual. And it should always be delicious. Recent trips to Cooks County in West Hollywood and Dinette in Echo Park have proved that rolling out of bed and enjoying a fantastic meal is still possible!
Cooks County: Situated on Beverly Blvd, Cooks County is a rustic spot serving California cuisine from farm to table. The seasonally changing menu features plenty of indulgences amongst the healthy options, like a breakfast sandwich and a ridiculously delicious french toast. Though you may have a short wait, they serve brunch until 3, so don't worry about getting up early.
Dinette: It really doesn't get more casual than a window in Echo Park. Small metal tables litter the sidewalk, while the order window, though quite nice, is only marked by a subtle "Dinette" sign. Serving an array of delicious pastries, avocado toast, and a breakfast pizza that is to die for, Dinette is a great place to go with some friends, get an iced coffee, and enjoy the outdoor seating.
