We've already listed Milo & Olive as one of our must-try restaurants on Wilshire, so we think it's about time for a solo post. We love this place, and we go there all the time. Sometimes, nothing sounds better than a glass of wine and a margherita pizza after a long day of work, and Milo & Olive does it so well. Rustic yet modern Italian cuisine, fresh ingredients, and delicious wine, Milo & Olive is the perfect destination for some light comfort food. And ever since they expanded their space a few months ago, it's become even better!
For our appetizers, we got bread and the chicken meatballs. The texture of the bread was amazing. It was warm, fluffy in the middle, and a bit crispier on the outside. However, I do have to note that the taste seemed a tad bit off-- it tasted almost a bit too wheat-y.
But the meatballs! They were perfect. So tender, with the perfect texture, and incredibly flavorful. The tomato sauce was also really tasty, with classic flavors. I liked the addition of the arugula-- the brightness and pepper-y taste lightened up the dish.
For our mains, we ordered the Baked Mac and Cheese and a Margherita Pizza (with the addition of a farm egg on top). The Baked Mac and Cheese was wonderful. The pasta was fluffy, and more crispy than creamy. It was a really nice take on a classic Mac and Cheese-- sinful, but not too sinful.
The Margherita Pizza was fantastic. One of the best parts of their pizzas is the dough and crust-- it's just so well done. The cheese and sauce are nicely balanced, and the farm egg adds a bit of oomph to the dish. Such a perfect ending to the meal.
Overall, every meal we have there is great. It's classic, comforting, simple food, but done so well. If you're in the area, make sure to stop in. You won't regret it.
