While abroad, I can't resist poking around drugstores and department stores alike for the best beauty buys that you can't get in the states. And after spending a semester abroad in London, I became quite the British beauty blog junkie. What I've learned from lovely bloggers like Caroline Hirons and Anna from Vivianna Does Make-Up is that between Boots and Liberty, you can pretty much get every lustworthy skincare product in the UK.
First up is the Pixi Glow Tonic-- an exfoliating toner that comes with quite the kick and none of the irritation. Simple an effective, this toner is alcohol free, oil free, and packed with glycolic acid and aloe vera. After using for about a week, I've already noticed a smoother complexion and serious decrease in those pesky red marks (the ones that stick around long after a pimple goes away). I would definitely recommend this to anyone, as it works well for acne, scarring, and ageing.
Next is Indeed Labs Hydraluron, a Boots favorite that Ms. Hirons has even placed in her "Hall of Fame." Hydraluron is made from hyaluronic acid, which is naturally found in our bodies and helps us retain water like no other (it can absorb up to 1000x its weight in water, in fact. It's paraben free, fragrance free, and 100% free of animal derived products. Basically, it's simple, effective, and not fussy. After using for about a week, my skin feels so much more moisturized and plumped up. What's really great about this product is that it delivers great hydration (I usually layer it underneath my Kiehl's moisturizer) without aggravating my break-out prone skin with pore clogging ingredients (so many moisturizing products are made with shea butter, which does not agree with my skin). Also, Ulta Beauty now carries it, so I will definitely stock up!
Ok, so this one isn't new exactly, but it is British. For months, my signature scent has been Jo Malone's Wood Sage and Sea Salt perfume, and since I was starting to run out, I finally upgraded to a bigger size. Jo Malone's perfumes are renown for been simple and beautiful, and the Wood Sage and Sea Salt is fresh, earthy, and a little sweet.
