With DineLA in full swing, we've been checking out a few of the great deals. One of which was LA dining mainstay, Fig & Olive. With locations all over the country, Fig & Olive* has found huge success with its big, beautiful interiors and Mediterranean flavors.
For Dine LA, they're offering a $25 lunch deal that features your choice of appetizer, entree, and dessert. And of course, it comes with their signature bread and sampling of olive oils. Keep scrolling to see what we ordered!
We started off with the Insalata di Fregola, which was a pasta salad with roasted butternut squash, celery, dried cranberries, and a nice, light citrus dressing. It was a nice salad; the butternut squash added some needed richness, while the cranberries gave it a punch of sweet. However, I did get a bite of the Croqueta Bravas (Potato croquette with parmesan, smoked mozzarella, scallion served with pimenton aioli), which were really yummy. So if you want light, go for the salad. If you want luxe, go for the Croquetas.
Next up, I ordered the paella, which sounded like a really nice hot dish for a cold day. The paella was alright-- I liked the scallop and shrimp, and the green peas were a nice addition. Some of the fish was a bit overcooked though, and there was something (maybe a bit too much saffron) that was overwhelming the flavors a bit. I think it could've been great if it was a bit simpler.
For dessert, I ordered the dessert crostini, which was really nice. I was expecting it to be more of a crispy crostini, but was pleasantly surprised that it was a moist shortbread. The mascarpone was great, and I loved the sweet little bites of amarena cherries. Some other diners ordered the chocolate pot de creme, which looked amazing, and it seemed everyone really enjoyed it.
Overall, it's a good lunch deal. I don't think I ordered the "hit" dishes for each category, and it ended up being a fairly light meal. Which, for lunch, was perfectly fine with me. It's definitely a great spot to go for a business lunch and take advantage of the great DineLA prices.
