On my continuing hunt for the best new beauty products, I love coming across up-and-coming indie brands that are changing the beauty game. And though I'm totally loyal to the mainstream brands that I use every day (my signature scent is Jo Malone's Wood Sage and Sea Salt), finding new additions to my routine is always welcome. Here are a few of my new favorite brands and products!
Brand #1 : By Rosie Jane
Founded by Australian make-up artist Rosie Jane Johnston, By Rosie Jane is made in Silverlake and features a small line of fragrances, candles, and cheek/lip glosses. All of the products are cruelty free, phosphate, paraben, sulfate, and phthalate free. The perfumes are minimalistic, and combine essential oils and natural fragrance oils for simple, clean, seasonal scents. Personally, I've been loving the scent "James," both in perfume and candle form. James is their Fall scent; with fig, amber, and gardenia, James is light, earthy, and romantic. The three lip and cheek stains come in bright, vibrant hues and infuse your lips/cheeks with just the right amount of moisture and color. The best part? All their products are totally affordable!
Brand #2 : Context Skin
Putting the minimal in minimalist brands, Context Skin is actually a unisex brand-- which makes a lot of sense when you think about it, because why exactly would a standard moisturizer work for women and not for men? Context is mixing together active ingredients, natural scents, and technological innovation for effective anti-aging formulas. The products are unisex, hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic, and paraben free. I particularly like the Restorative Night Cream; with collagen, glycerin, squalane, aloe, and vitamins, the cream feels thick yet light. It leaves my skin feeling calm, moisturized, and protected.
New Product Alert : Sunday Riley Tidal Brightening Enzyme Water Cream
I'm already a big fan of Sunday Riley's products, and after attending their Tidal cream launch at Skybar at the Mondrian, I've become even more of a convert. Water creams have apparently become all the rage, especially with Korean skincare products. And when Sunday Riley decides to do a water cream, it's never just a water cream. With two forms of hyaluronic acid for ultimate hydration, the cream also features papaya enzymes, alpha-arbutin, and floral extracts to exfoliate, brighten, and illuminate hyper-pigmented skin. As most Sunday Riley products, Tidal is made without parabens, sulfates, phthalates and is oil-free, noncomedogenic, cruelty-free, vegan, hypoallergenic, and gluten-free. I've been using it for about a week now, and I already feel like my pink post-acne marks are fading away.
