Sometimes, Mother's Day just creeps up on you. While you're recovering from Coachella and making your summer plans, you realize that it's right around the corner, and all the great brunches and afternoon teas are completely booked up. You might be a bit late to the game, but you still need to figure out a few ways to pamper your Mom...because you know she deserves it. Luckily, we have a few last-minute suggestions in case your Mother's Day plans aren't set in stone.
1. Take a Day Trip
This Mother's Day, we're taking Mom to the amazing and LA-adjacent Ojai Valley Inn & Spa, where we'll be lounging by the pool all day, pampering Mom with spa treatments, and celebrating with a dinner at Olivella. So why not take a little drive to Ojai, Santa Barbara, Laguna Beach, or somewhere close and sunny? Plan a nice beach day, book some spa treatments, and finish up the day with an upscale dinner.
2. Make A Classic Afternoon Tea
Since it's basically impossible to book any afternoon tea at the moment, why not treat your Mom to an at-home high tea? Break out the special occasion tea sets, set the table with a tablecloth and flowers, and whip up scones, smoked salmon sandwiches, and the tea. How could she not be both impressed and incredibly touched by all the thought and hard work? If you need more instructions, we've got them right here.
3. Take Her Shopping
If you're not sure what to get your Mom this year, and if she's anything like my Mom, then shopping for her is a nearly impossible task. Sometimes, it's better to take her shopping and let her pick out her own gift...at least this way, she won't need to go through the trouble of returning whatever you get her. And we recommend eschewing the typical department stores with a trip to the Jewelry Mart Downtown. There, she'll find some of the best jewels in the city, and the prices will be much easier on your wallet. Surprise her with the shopping trip, and then with dinner afterwards!
