For the majority of us, working out does not come easy. It's a constant battle of wills. Mind over matter. Tricking yourself into going, hating yourself during the entirety of the workout, and then walking out with an incredible feeling of accomplishment. Finding the right studio and workout can make this entire process all that much easier; from the right music to upbeat (but not toooooo peppy) instructors, when it all comes together, sometimes it's not even that bad. The difference for me? Well, I'm a creature of habit (or, of Instagram), and finding studios that are beautiful, minimal, and tranquil is inspiring enough to get me through a grueling workout. In addition to some of my recent favorites, like Beat Bike, Speir Pilates, and Playlist Yoga, here are 3 more beautiful studios; let their white walls, succulent planters, and minimal decor fuel you.
XO Crossover Fitness, Sherman Oaks
This ultra-cool studio in Sherman Oaks must have been built for Instagram. Not only is the design ultra minimalist, but they've got everything you could possibly need: water, hair ties, gum, bobby pins, lockers, etc. But in case you think they're just a pretty face, think again. Their signature circuit training classes are as hardcore as they come, mixing together a brutal combination of Pilates reformers, heavy bags, rowing machines, and weight training.
Love for Pilates, Santa Monica
This simple, modern studio in Santa Monica is an ideal place to get through a "Reformer Booty Blast" class while maintaining your zen. With modern reformers in a modern, but intimate setting, you'll get a serious workout (even their Reformer Level 1 Class is a challenge!), but still enjoy individualized attention.
Though not as minimal as the others, Aura Cycle on West 3rd. is all about pumping you up (without giving you a seizure) for an intense, focused cycling experience. The neon blue lights provide just enough mood lighting without overwhelming the senses, while the modern bikes keep the whole workout challenging and lively.
