L.A. keeps tricking us. I swear, it seems like every time the sun starts to peek out from behind the clouds, giving us a glimpse of that warm weather we're so famous for, it disappears, leaving us with cloudy skies and temps lingering in the mid-50's. Usually by this time of year, Spring is beginning to rear its beautiful head, so I'm going to dress like that's what's really happening. The power of wishful thinking, right? Anyways, I always find those transitional moments between seasons the most sartorially awkward; finding ways to break out next season's pieces without looking totally out of place is certainly a challenge, but one that I'm going to try to take on for you. Here are a few outfit ideas to navigate this tricky transition.
1. White Culottes + Striped Crop Top + Metallic Heels
Though this look could probably use some sort of light covering (denim jacket, lightweight trench), it still shouts "Spring" without resorting to floral shorts and flip flops. I'm currently in love with these high-waisted white culotte-like trousers, which make me feel like Katharine Hepburn on vacation in the South of France circa the 1940's. I attempted to give the look a bit of modernity with a geometric crop top and metallic heels, making a subtle Spring-forward statement without going over the top. A straw hat and tan bag complete the vacation-ready look.
2. Lace Romper + Suede Jacket + Lace-Up Heels
Ahh, the lace romper. The new favorite for cocktail parties, weddings, and nights out on the town alike, this versatile little playsuit has quickly become a go-to piece for L.A. girls on-the-go. This particular iteration comes in a deep emerald hue, making it slightly more appropriate for winter-in-LA temps, while the rich color pairs nicely with tan suede in the form of lace-up sandals and a jacket. The silhouettes are definitely Spring, while the colors acknowledge the cold reality we're still living in.
3. Floral Jumpsuit + Denim Jacket + Suede Hat
Another necessity for us free-spirited Angelenos, a floral jumpsuit is another fresh choice for the winter-to-spring wardrobe debacle. It's light and flowy enough for sunny days spent at Malibu Wines, but the moody floral print keeps it grounded. A nice denim jacket will keep you warm, while my go-to hat adds to the LA bohemian feel.
