Eating healthy is always a struggle for me; I'm not much of a chef, go out to eat all the time, and don't make it to the grocery store nearly as much as I should. As part of the Postmates generation, I admittedly chalk this up to laziness and complete lack of patience. Having healthy pre-made meals delivered to my door was amazing and super-convenient, but I'm also ready to start cooking more and stock up on wholesome snacks, juices, and produce. So when I heard about Milk & Eggs, it seemed almost too good to be true. A grocery delivery service in LA making it insanely easy to get healthy, high quality products for prices that us millenials can actually afford, Milk & Eggs also supports local farmers and producers, making it a win-win all around. Their products come directly from local farms, eliminating waste, extraneous inventory, middlemen, or other distribution centers, which keep their prices low. You place your order online whenever you want, or sign up for weekly subscription, and can even receive it the next morning!
My experience could not have been easier. I simply chose what I wanted on their site, which includes options for fruits & vegetables, dairy & eggs, meat & seafood, bread & pasta, beverages, pantry, as well as handy sampler bags. I received all my groceries promptly, chilled in insulated cooler bags with ice packs so they didn't spoil. I was amazed to see how generous the portions were. I received bunches of broccoli and carrots, bags of oranges, apples, and tangerines, a huge bunch of bananas, a large container of strawberries, a large loaf of marble rye, a large jug of orange juice, a dozen eggs, a pack of granola, pita chips, a tomato garlic spread, a half dozen bagels, green juice, kombucha, and a beautiful cut of salmon. And even better? ALL of this was only $89. $89!! And if that doesn't seem reasonable to you, take a trip to Whole Foods and see how much you can get for under $100.
Not only was the delivery easy and the produce affordable, but everything was seriously amazing. The loaf of marble rye (which came from Bread Los Angeles) was so fresh, fluffy, and flavorable. Pita chips were salty, oily, and crispy, and were positively addicting dipped into the rich, tasty sundried tomato and garlic spread from Brothers Products. All of the produce was incredibly fresh, while the beautiful salmon filet ended up tasting delicious when prepared simply. Another favorite included the half dozen onion bagels, which were easily some of the best I've had in LA; they were moist, tender, and packed with flavor. A bag of Maple Pecan Granola from Kessons Kitchen was also some of the best granola I've ever had-- perfect with a bit of honey or drizzled over some greek yogurt. Overall, the quality of all the products I received was so impressive, I simply cannot believe how it was so affordable and easy. After using Milk & Eggs just the one time, it has completely changed the way I shop for groceries, as well as made it super easy to support local farmers and producers without actually having to leave the house. For anyone who simply doesn't have the time to go shopping, wants to eat better, wants to support local farmers, and wants a convenient way to do all of these things, I think I've found your answer.
