By now, you know that when it comes to beauty, I'm a total skincare fanatic. But make-up? Well, I still consider myself a beginner. Sure, I can beauty blend some Luminous Silk foundation into my skin and apply a bit of liquid lipstick before a big event or photoshoot, but other than that, I'm definitely a make-up novice. So when I had the incredible opportunity to get my make-up done by LA-based make-up artist and influencer Nikki DeRoest, I jumped at it. An experienced make-up artist and total LA gal, Nikki dispenses with the usual Instagram make-up trends to create looks that are more natural, laid-back, but still super beautiful. As she gave me a soft, natural, but luminous make-up look, I hounded her for the best tips and tricks to enhance my current beauty routine. She also kindly provided me with ample professional suggestions for everything from the best concealers to her favorite local aestheticians. Also, included in her vast and impressive beauty collection were a collection of Jergens Moisturizers which she uses to provide some radiance and luminosity to the skin as the final touch.
The first thing I did when I arrived at her place was gush over her beauty collection. Le Labo candles, Aesop hand soap, and every skincare product I've ever wanted lined her shelf. Nikki herself was perfectly made-up with the kind of tousled waves I could only dream about and clad in a classic white tee, high-waisted denim skirt, and effortless silk scarf. She also could not have been nicer; she was happy to recommend products, provide make-up tips, and work with me on a look that best suited my features and lifestyle. In terms of the make-up, she kept the products that she used on me minimal, sticking to simple but luxe go-to's like Tom Ford and Kevyn Aucoin. She recommended the Maybelline Master Conceal, which I promptly went out and purchased, and showed me how to give my brows a bit more texture by brushing them upwards.
Since my skin was dreadfully dull and dry, she used Jergens Hydrating Coconut Dry Skin Moisturizer with coconut oil for the final touch on my arms, shoulders, and legs, which made my skin look positively radiant. At the end of the make-up session, my skin looked luminous, with a nice sheen and felt incredibly soft and totally moisturized. As I've been a big Jergens fan in the past (and also frequently forget to moisturize the rest of my body), this was a really welcome step. The Jergens moisturizers all smelled amazing, absorbed into my skin quickly, and really left my skin feeling super soft. Overall, the experience was really fun, informative, and left me looking and feeling great. I really wish Nikki could do my make-up everyday!
