Honestly, I just can't get enough when it comes to trendy brunch spots. For me, there's no better way to spend your weekend morning then drinking mimosas with a group of friends over Eggs Benny at some West Hollywood hotspot. Currently, said hotspot is The Doheny Room; since the bright drinking den opened around a year ago, it's been consistently packed during the evening with both locals and tourists looking to party. But honestly, I've come to appreciate it even more once they launched brunch. During the daylight, you can really come to appreciate the bright interior laden with palm tree motifs, greenery, and plush couches without the loud music and crowds. Instead, you can sit back, relax, and enjoy your brunch while still feeling ultra hip and trendy.
Though you can start off with your standard coffee or mimosa brunch order, why not try out one of their speciality brunch cocktails? I had the Martini McFly, a sweet and strong combination of Absolut Elyx, Combier Royal, apricot jam, lemon juice, and simple syrup that resembled a lighter lemon drop. For someone a bit more fizzy, look no further than the Lolita-- a girly, bubbly mix of Belvedere Cherry Vodka, lemon juice, simply syrup, raspberries and prosecco.
Considering the of-the-moment decor, you can't really do without ordering the Avocado Toast. Piled high with beets, sunflower seeds, and pickled shallots, it's packed with flavor and much more substantial than your usual avo toast. Though I'm not a huge beet person (I usually just pick them off), I did really love the addition of the pickled shallots, which balanced out the creamy fattiness of the avocado.
A hearty take on an already hearty brunch class, their Proscuitto Cotto is a ham, asparagus, and sundried tomato filled Eggs Benedict. I really enjoyed the mediterranean flavors, as well as the generous portion of ham. Definitely very satisfying and perfect for those hungover Sunday mornings.
One of the highlights of brunch was the Kimchi Fried Rice, and I really appreciated that this wasn't the most obvious choice for brunch at a West Hollywood hotspot. I'm such a sucker for kimchi fried rice, and the addition of a fried egg and a hefty slab of bacon (which was thick and sweet) definitely brought those breakfast flavors to the dish. It was super satisfying and so yummy.
Finally, can you really brunch here without trying the Fried Chicken & Biscuits? The fried chicken was really nicely crispy and flavorful, while the flaky biscuits were softened by the gravy, all together making this a really fun combination.
Overall, the brunch at Doheny Room was really fun. The food is satisfying and tasty, while the boozy drinks definitely set the tone for a trendy, upbeat brunch experience. With the sophisticated party atmosphere, brunch at The Doheny Room might just become a go-to for girlfriend get-togethers and morning-after dates.
