Lately, my perpetual search for perfect skin has taken on a new dimension. While most of my adult life (and teenage one, for that matter) has been absorbed with banishing breakouts, I started to notice that at the ripe old age of 25, I had started to develop a few fine lines on my forehead. "Great," I thought, "I still have to worry about acne and now I get to deal with wrinkles too!" However, in my quest to conquer both of these common skin woes, I sought out help from countless department stores and skincare consultants, explaining to them how hydration is one of the most important steps in my beauty routine, but also one of the trickiest. When it came to finding moisturizers, nothing solved all my issues. Moisturizers and night creams that helped keep my skin clear were often not moisturizing enough and emphasized my fine lines, while all my fancy, expensive products that plumped my skin often lead to fresh whiteheads come morning.
I've tried dozens of different creams, often feeling overwhelmed and confused by the choices. Not to mention how much money I've dropped on creams that I'll use a few times and then retire to my night-cream graveyard. Finding something balancing, nourishing, and plumping has been an arduous and time-consuming task, so I was thrilled when I got the chance to try Olay's Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream, which outperforms 10 prestige creams according to a recent study by Good Housekeeping. Good Housekeeping found that Olay's $26 cream outperformed those in the $400 range, and they also noted the cream's fast acting capabilities, long lasting hydration, lightweight texture, and firming and plumping ingredients (like hyaluronic acid, Vitamin E, Amino-Peptide, and Panthenol). Obviously the hype was real, but after testing the cream out for the last few weeks, I'm happy to report that it definitely lived up to my high expectations.
I've been using the cream every night before bed after cleansing, toning, treatment, and eye cream as my nightly moisturizer. I was instantly impressed with the rich, creamy texture, which felt surprisingly light (and not thick and heavy) once I applied it to my skin. It similarly has a light, pleasant smell, so it's not overloaded with irritating perfumes and fragrances. And unlike a lot of the pricier anti-aging treatments that I've tried before, I definitely didn't suffer from any extra inflammation or fresh rounds of breakouts. Instead, my skin was actually soothed, moisturized, and calm. After the first day or so, my skin looked brighter and more hydrated. And those pesky lines on my forehead? Way less visible!
Finally finding a moisturizer that focuses on plumping, aging prevention, and hydration has been such an important addition to my skincare routine, and one that is often overlooked by women of my age. Though I'm only 25, hydration is one of the key benefits for younger women seeking preventative anti-aging measures. Not having to pay a premium for a cream that irritates my skin and worsens my breakouts has also been a dream come true, not to mention a welcome break for both my credit card and my clogged pores. I'm looking forward to continuing to use the Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream and watching those forehead lines disappear!
