By now, you know that when it comes to beauty, I'm a total skincare fanatic. But make-up? Well, I still consider myself a beginner. Sure, I can beauty blend some Luminous Silk foundation into my skin and apply a bit of liquid lipstick before a big event or photoshoot, but other than that, I'm definitely a make-up novice. So when I had the incredible opportunity to get my make-up done by LA-based make-up artist and influencer Nikki DeRoest, I jumped at it. An experienced make-up artist and total LA gal, Nikki dispenses with the usual Instagram make-up trends to create looks that are more natural, laid-back, but still super beautiful. As she gave me a soft, natural, but luminous make-up look, I hounded for her the best tips and tricks to enhance my current beauty routine. She also kindly provided me with ample professional suggestions for everything from the best concealers to her favorite local aestheticians. Included in her vast and impressive beauty collection was Jergens Shea Butter and Hydrating Coconut, which she used to provide some radiance and luminosity to my skin as the final touch.Read more

I’m going to be totally honest: Sometimes, I get a bit lazy when trying to achieve that perfect summer glow. Though the Jergens® products I’ve used so far have made it easy, I’m not always great at keeping up with it. Which is too bad, because I’ve made good progress overall! My whole body (including my face now) is returning back to summer hues, but I’m still not quite beach ready.
For that final push toward the summer months, I’m bringing out the big guns and trying the Jergens® Natural Glow® Instant Sun® Sunless Tanning Mousse. Unlike the previous three products I’ve used, this one works with your skin tone to instantly deliver natural-looking color (instead of gradually), meaning it’s a great option when I’m in a pinch. Not only is it helping me to finish transforming my winter skin, but it’s also works with my skin tone to mimic results from the natural sun.
After applying for the first time, I could already see color develop instantly and deepen over the next several hours. With a few trips coming up (including one to Hawaii!), I’m excited to bring this along for an extra boost of color when needed. I’ll definitely continue to use Natural Glow® products, and enjoy the results. Are you almost summer ready?
Jergens® Natural Glow® Products allow you to build your glow gradually or get a quick boost of color. No vacation days required.
As I continue my quest for the perfect summer glow, I realized something was missing. I’ve been watching my limbs start to return to warm-blooded, human hues, while my face has remained ghostly transparent. This is probably due to my obsessive use of sunscreen. Sensitives kin, a tendency to burn, and a desire to stave off dark spots and wrinkles (you’ve got to start young!) has lead me to apply SPF 20+ on my face every. Single. Day. And let’s not forget my preference to stay hidden under hats and sunglasses even when going on a brief walk around the neighborhood (also, I love feeling like a celebrity going incognito). So it should come as no surprise that I was committing the cardinal sin of self-tanning: letting my face remain a different color than my body.Read more
If New York is the city that never sleeps, LA is the city that always glows. Unfortunately, if like me, you spend your day cooped up in an office or working from a coffee shop, chances are that you’re probably missing out on all that California sunshine. And while “winter” only seemed to last about a week, that dull, vitamin-D deficient skin is definitely staying put. As the summer months approach, I’m mentally preparing myself for the vision of thousands of perfectly tanned bodies frolicking around the beach. This vision becomes even harder to digest when you’re stuck huddled under an umbrella, slathering SPF 50+ on your overly sensitive,ready-to-burn skin. While I embraced my pale skin during those long Midwest winters in college and my time abroad in the perpetually-cloudy London, this year I’d like to not be a complete ghost and rock a little bit of a tan to fit in with the LA crowd. Nothing extreme, just a tasteful glow. Which is why I’m finally giving in and giving a self-tanner a try.Read more
