With each new season comes new openings and new hotspots to see, be seen, or you know, enjoy food, drinks, and the company of your friends in a lovely space. This year, it seems that rooftop bars are all the rage; starting with E.P. + L.P.'s splashy appearance in West Hollywood a few short years ago, to the constantly bustling scene that is Catch, local restaurateurs are finally capitalizing on LA's yearlong sunshine and warm weather to open beautiful drinking dens for watching the sunset over Sunset. Though, of course, not every bar opening this summer is of the rooftop variety-- in fact, we've found a few that we're loving providing moodier scenes in glitzy spaces. Either way, LA's 3 best new bar openings for summer 2017 are all excellent spots for grabbing a nice cocktail and some bites, enjoying the #vibes, and celebrating the summer.Read More
If you think Plan Check is just your average spot for after-hours burgers and brews, think again. This LA powerhouse loves a collab, and they do it well. From this month through December, the restaurant is hosting a series of pop-up dinners by acclaimed Chefs from all over the country. Created by owner/founder Terry Heller in collaboration with travel and food tastemaker Andy Wang and web-based dining guide, Table8, the series officially kicked off on September 6th. Recently, we enjoyed the seafood-focused guest menu by Chef Jamie DeRosa of South Beach's Izzy's Fish and Oyster, leaving us excited and optimistic about what else is to come.Read More
For the majority of us, working out does not come easy. It's a constant battle of wills. Mind over matter. Tricking yourself into going, hating yourself during the entirety of the workout, and then walking out with an incredible feeling of accomplishment. Finding the right studio and workout can make this entire process all that much easier; from the right music to upbeat (but not toooooo peppy) instructors, when it all comes together, sometimes it's not even that bad. The difference for me? Well, I'm a creature of habit (or, of Instagram), and finding studios that are beautiful, minimal, and tranquil is inspiring enough to get me through a grueling workout. In addition to some of my recent favorites, like Beat Bike, Speir Pilates, and Playlist Yoga, here are 3 more beautiful studios; let their white walls, succulent planters, and minimal decor fuel you.Read More
With a location on Ocean Ave. that is a bit more off the beaten path, a locally-inspired fish-to-table menu, and a beautiful interior that is part beach-town joint, part modern-contemporary-hotspot, Herringbone is clearly a go-to for a local's lunch on Ocean Ave. They just launched a new lunch menu featuring $19 lunch boxes (which includes a very affordable salad + sandwich deal) and a Summer Happy Hour (that has no specific time limits), making this the perfect time to soak in those last few summery afternoons on Ocean. Can you say $1 oysters?Read More
Lately, my everyday staples have becoming increasingly simple: a pair of high-waisted jeans, striped tees, and something to tie around my neck and drape over my shoulders. Is it a style rut or Zuckerberg-style uniform dressing? Let's go with the latter. But I realized that these pieces all have something in common: their Parisian sensibility. We all know that the Parisians emit a certain je ne sais quoi when it comes to their effortless dressing, and maybe I've finally cracked the code. By channelling the French with easy, Parisian-inspired wardrobe staples, not only have I perfected my fall-back look, but I'm getting closer to mastering the art of looking chic with minimal effort.
