Don’t be fooled by my Resting Bitch Face…leopard is trendy again, and I couldn’t be happier! Despite my minimalistic tendencies, one print that I have weirdly loved for years is leopard. I’m not sure why; I wasn’t on the Jersey shore, and I have no desire to dress up like an animal on a daily basis, yet here we are. I’ve been a leopard lover since college, and the summer before my junior year, I spent the summer living in New York and interning at Marie Claire magazine (true story!). While I was there, I stumbled into THE MOST AMAZING SALE at the Tibi boutique in Soho, where I came across this gorgeous leopard blazer for a mere fraction of its original price— I can’t say I remember how much it cost, but suffice it to say it was marked down enough for a broke intern to buy. It’s been one of the longest lasting pieces in my closet, lying in wait for a time when leopard print triumphantly returned, and THAT. TIME. IS. NOW. Get ready to see this blazer all over my IG feed, because it’s not going anywhere. Praise to the fashion gods!Read more
My relationship to the ocean is basically the same as any relationship between two LA neighbors; I know it's there, but I basically ignore its entire existence. What can I say? I'm totally spoiled by growing up so close to the ocean. Ironically though, I love traveling to seaside destinations, giving me a chance to whip out all my summer hats, straw bags, espadrilles, and sundresses. This dress is one of those perfect summer frocks-- lightweight without being skimpy, patterned without being too loud, and it can easily transition from daytime beachside strolling to dinner on the town. It makes me want to spend more time closer to the water...so we both know what this means, right? I guess I need to take a Malibu staycation!Read more
Recently, I had a major spring cleaning kick, and thoroughly cleaned out my closet. I donated a bunch of clothing, and ended up selling some through The Real Real (which I would highly recommend checking out if you have designer clothes to unload). Not only was the process so satisfying and cathartic, but it left me with plenty of fresh space in my closet. However, I didn't want to just fill this space with pieces I'm only going to wear a few times before getting rid of-- instead, I've been thinking about more sustainable ways to consume fewer pieces of clothing. And so I was incredibly excited to try out the new Rent the Runway Unlimited option. You've probably heard of Rent the Runway, right? That site where you can rent a dress for a wedding or special event. But did you know that you can also rent everyday pieces and separates? Their unlimited service allows you to pick 4 pieces that you can wear and swap out for more pieces anytime you'd like, all for a reasonable monthly fee. For me, it allows me a constantly evolving wardrobe for photoshoots and events that, instead of going to waste, gets sent right back to Rent the Runway in exchange for something else. It's fun, easy, and incredibly convenient (and I'm not even getting paid to say any of this). I started off with a few high end pieces like this A.L.C. crop top (that fit beautifully), and these white Free People denim culottes. I feel like my wardrobe has been reinvigorated, without being weighed down by too many pieces. It's been so fun experimenting with new styles, and trying designers and pieces that I wouldn't normally buy because of either their price or style.
