I have this vision of myself when I’m a real “grown up” (lol I’m 26 but whatevs) where I’m a total boss marching around in amazing shoes and power suits. In this vision of my future self, I always seem to have time to do my hair and make-up perfectly, and I suddenly find power suits and Louboutin heels comfortable for daily wear. But hey, a girl can dream, right? As I’m not quite there yet I’ll settle for jumpsuits, which are somewhere between a baby-onesie and a power suit…which is also an apt description for where I currently am in life.Read More
We all know that L.A. is an...interesting city. Progressive, creative, weird-- you can pretty much find every type of person and interest possible somewhere within the vast city (and county) lines. There are definitely a few common threads though. A lot of people work in entertainment, the food scene is huge, and we also boast a pretty huge weed-loving population. Personally, I'm not much a smoker myself (no judgment!), but like any good Angeleno, have had countless friends over the years that indulge from time to time (or sometimes a few times a day). And since I'm no expert in weed paraphernalia, knowing what to give my 4/20-loving friends usually leaves me feeling lost...or sometimes it even leaves me literally lost when I stumble down some back alley off of the Venice boardwalk attempting to look for the perfect marijuana-friendly gift. So finding a fashionable option, like High Jinx, was an easy way to satisfy my need to buy cute things and my friends' love of all things #mj.Read More
We all have that go-to item that we end up wearing time and time again throughout the season. In the winter, it's usually a pair of booties or my leather jacket. A few summers ago, it was a casual gray dress with a faux-wrap detail that was (and still is) so comfortable. Currently, this floral midi dress from Banana Republic is already the best dress for Summer 2017. Since I'm not usually a wearer of prints or bright colors, this moody floral injects both of those into my wardrobe without making me feel like a different person. The midi length and asymmetrical silhouette is comfortable, breezy, and feels a bit dressier than your run-of-the-mill mini. It's easily dressed up (without becoming too dressy) with a pair of heels, but can be a bit more casual with a simple pair of espadrilles or sandals. Paired with classic nude sandals from Sam Edelman, beautiful Ghurka bag, and glamorous sunnies from Raen, I feel like I may as well be strolling the streets of Italy clad in Dolce & Gabbana.Read More
I know that over the last few years, mismatched silhouettes, mixed prints, and a general tendency towards that messy-random-chic look has been a hallmark of fashionable, cool girl style. And though I wish I could pull off combinations like a cropped sleeve, long sweater with a bell sleeve blouse peeking out underneath, effortlessly half-tucked into high-waisted jeans with a distressed, asymmetrical hem over graphic, printed booties that clash brilliantly with a graphic, printed bag, I tend to keep things a bit simpler. I go for rich tones that suit me, and occasionally, like to match my hat to my blazer to my neck scarf. Is it boring? Maybe. But with a flattering green wrap dress and fun OTK boots, it feels just matchy-matchy enough for me.Read More
Lately, my everyday staples have becoming increasingly simple: a pair of high-waisted jeans, striped tees, and something to tie around my neck and drape over my shoulders. Is it a style rut or Zuckerberg-style uniform dressing? Let's go with the latter. But I realized that these pieces all have something in common: their Parisian sensibility. We all know that the Parisians emit a certain je ne sais quoi when it comes to their effortless dressing, and maybe I've finally cracked the code. By channelling the French with easy, Parisian-inspired wardrobe staples, not only have I perfected my fall-back look, but I'm getting closer to mastering the art of looking chic with minimal effort.
