The Moody Staples

Annnndd I’m back! If you haven’t noticed, I’ve taken a bit of a break (you can read all about why here). After some reflection, I don’t think it was a coincidence that I chose to take this mental health break during a particularly rough winter (well…rough for LA). It seems like it’s been raining for 3 months straight, and everyone seems to be looking forward to the longer days and sunshine that Spring will bring. Considering this long bout of dreary, damp weather, it’s no wonder why I spent most of the winter wearing a rotation of moody staples. Black ultra-skinny jeans and taupe pointed toe booties from Everlane are two of my favorite pieces this season, while this Theory tuxedo blazer has been a chic, sleek companion during these chilly months. I firmly believe that everyone needs a few cool, moody pieces that will make them feel like a badass, even when they’re having a rough day.

The Silk Leopard Skirt from Instagram

Though I’ve known for awhile that Instagram is a powerful marketing tool (hell, I built a career out of it), I occasionally fool myself into thinking I’m not as susceptible to the platform’s branding as others. But alas, here I am, wearing that silk leopard skirt that everyone else is wearing too. What can I say? You already know that I’m a leopard print lover, so when I saw everyone and their mother wearing my favorite print in silk, midi skirt form, I couldn’t help but feel some serious fomo. And though I might match every other fashion blogger on the planet…I have no regrets.

That One Floofy Dress

Everyone needs That One Floofy Dress, right? You know which one I’m talking about. That dress that you think will never actually look good on you because it kind of looks like a big fluffy potato sack. But then you try it on and it immediately solves all your problems. Why had you never tried this before?? It hides your Thanksgiving belly! It pairs beautifully with those new black boots you just bought! It’s lightweight and airy, but somehow, you’re not worried that one small gust of wind will expose your butt cheeks to people in your immediate vicinity. And look. at. it. twirl. I have That One Floofy Dress now, and I am never going back.

Why Not Neutrals?

By now, you probably all know that when it comes to Fall/Winter uniforms, I’m all about the neutrals. I’ve never been one to rock neons or pastels (even during the Spring/Summer months), so as soon as I can get away with wearing all black, camel, and burgundy on a daily basis, I do just that. My aversion to bright colors can occasionally get me into a style rut, but finding black-pant alternatives to my go-to black jeans (like these silky black culottes from AYR) or a statement camel coat help re-spark my creativity.

Why The Bloc LA is Downtown's Best New Fashion Destination

More and more, I find myself spending time in Downtown. We’ve all seen how much Downtown has changed over the last few years; the infusion of cool restaurants, bars, venues, and stores has truly made it one of the city’s most culturally-dense destinations. But let’s be real—there are still few things that can convince me to make that often traffic-heavy trek. One of those things is The Bloc , an open-air urban center situated on 7th Street between Flower and Hope Streets, that both physically and metaphorically serves as a connection point for all of Downtown’s different districts: financial, jewelry, fashion, and theater. And The Bloc’s mix of shops, restaurants, bars, entertainment, and event programming reflects all that Downtown has to offer. Currently, though, The Bloc is killing it when it comes to their fashion offerings, making it one of my favorite style destinations in the city.  Here are 3 reasons why The Bloc is Downtown’s best new fashion destination…
