5 Places To Eat With The Girls // Spring 2019

Who said going out in LA is just for date nights? As much as you might love your bae, let’s be real; having time with your friends to catch up on each others’ lives is super important. And of course, you want to find a place that’s cute, fun, serves good food, and has plenty of booze. Here are some of our recent faves for a meal with the girls:

Brunch. Here. Now : 189 by Dominique Ansel

It's here! The highly anticipated 189 by Dominique Ansel has finally arrived, adding a beautiful bakery mecca to The Grove. In case you live under a rock that shields you from all important foodie news, Dominique Ansel is known as one of THE best pastry chefs in the world (in fact, he was named "The World's Best Pastry Chef" by Food & Wine, so no need to just take it from me), so his entré into LA's food scene has been surrounded with the appropriate amount of fanfare. But luckily, the two story space seriously delivers, with a beautiful interior, ultra-cool brunch service, and sold-out cronuts (which were, of course, invented by Ansel). Get there early!

Run, Don't Walk : Downtown Mecca Miro Is Now Serving Brunch!

We've never been reticent when it comes to both our love of brunch and our love of Downtown's modern haven Miro. So when we found out that Miro was now serving brunch, we knew that it was a match made in foodie heaven. We can spend all day praising their other-worldly charcuterie and their extremely satisfying pastas, so I was initially a wee bit disappointed when I saw their brunch menu was made of more run-of-the-mill brunch offerings, like pancakes and Eggs Benny. But alas, my hesitation was misguided, as even their "commonplace" menu items boast a modern, luxe spin. Downtown might be a schlep and a half for many, but it's absolutely worth the trek for a tasty brunch in a beautiful dining room. Oh, and did we mention Bottomless Mimosas for $14? Done.

Brunch. Here. Now : The Ponte on Beverly

It's always a sad affair when any restaurant closes, but when that restaurant was local favorite Terrine, it's an especially tough loss. The 2-year old space officially shuttered New Years, but quickly flipped into The Ponte, a new concept for Chopped judge and former Scarpetta chef Scott Conant, who's bringing some Italian flare to this former French brasserie. In addition to the menu, restaurateur Stephane Bombet also flipped the space, ushering in a mid-century modern look with serious Mad Men vibes. But don't worry; they haven't done away with the beautiful back patio (they would be crazy to), remaining one of the best outdoor dining choices in the city. We popped in for brunch recently, and enjoyed their Italian take on standard brunch fare in addition to some classic Conant offerings (the Pasta al Pomodoro is his signature).

The One Off-The-Menu Brunch Dish You Need From Otium

One of the most anticipated openings of 2015, Otium has been an ambitious addition to The Broad Museum and Downtown LA’s dining scene in general. Its beautiful combination of large contemporary glass walls and rustic woodsy interior had made it a hot place for modern fusion foods done with an exquisite twist. Not to mention, the restaurant is overseen by none other than renowned chef Tim Hollingsworth. Together with the neighboring Broad Museum, Otium is an idyllic restaurant for those who wish for a special art and dining experience.
