Keep Your New Year's Resolutions at These 3 Fitness Studios

Last year, in an attempt to make resolutions I could actually keep, I set myself small, achievable goals that allow for incremental but lasting change. One of these was to find workouts that I actually enjoy and incorporate them into a more consistent and robust fitness routine. Though the idea of simply trying out classes and finding ones that I didn't hate doesn't seem like much of a stretch, I knew that it was an important place to start if a consistent fitness routine was to become habit. And after a year of exploring the city, experimenting, and making good use of that Classpass membership, I'm happy to report that this is one resolution I most definitely kept. It's been tough, and I'm still working on that "routine" part, but I managed to find a ton of fun fitness classes that I even occasionally look forward to attending. I now average 2-4 classes a week, and feel stronger and healthier than ever. So if you made any health-related resolutions that that you hope will stick, I recommend checking out these 3 fitness studios for fun and effective classes that might actually encourage you to come back.

What's Hot Now : Maradentro, Brentwood

Though it's only been open a few weeks, Maradentro was bustling and crowded when we arrived for our Friday night dinner. The second outpost of their popular Studio City Mexican seafood joint, Maradentro is shaping up to be quite the popular scene for the Brentwood-Santa Monica crowd. But lest you think it's all scene and no substance, don't fret; Maradentro backs up this popularity with a fresh, flavorful menu that focuses on local, seasonal ingredients. We were impressed by the bold flavors and the careful balance between classic Mexican dishes and contemporary influences, undoubtedly the work of partners Jesse Gomez and Jose Acevedo (of Mercardo fame)With a great bar program, excellent food, and a casual-cool environment, it's no wonder why this spot is heating up quickly.

Checking in at Milo & Olive

We've already listed Milo & Olive as one of our must-try restaurants on Wilshire, so we think it's about time for a solo post. We love this place, and we go there all the time. Sometimes, nothing sounds better than a glass of wine and a margherita pizza after a long day of work, and Milo & Olive does it so well. Click through to check out some of our favorite dishes.
